Reports to:  Director of Facilities.  To assist with the maintenance, service, repair, and operations of all buildings and structures owned by Ursuline Academy.  Miscellaneous maintenance and repair tasks on school buildings and property requiring journeyman skills in at least two of the following areas; carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, plumbing or other trades. Various functions such as maintenance and repair of roofs, doors, locks, furniture, cabinets, shelves, stairs, sinks and other building components.  Minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as repairing and troubleshooting lights, fuses and mechanical equipment.  Minor plumbing work not requiring a licensed plumber, such as repairing or maintaining toilets, sinks and mechanical equipment.

Qualifications:  Valid driver’s license.  Five or more years’ experience in general maintenance or building construction.  Two years supplemental training in trade or vocational courses is a plus.  Basic computer skills and willingness and ability to learn campus software.

Maintenance Worker.  Must be able to successfully perform the following essential duties and other duties as may be assigned.  Perform a wide variety of miscellaneous repairs, assembly and installation.  Perform daily inspection and opening of school and walk through inspection of Academy, mechanicals and grounds.  Perform daily cleaning/sanitation/hygiene/custodial/trash & recycling in all buildings.  Inspect and test systems, machinery and equipment.  Repair and maintain as necessary.  Identify supplies, equipment, machinery, etc., required to perform the job.  Operate a variety of shop machinery and equipment and complex hand/power tools.  Prep sports fields and gymnasiums for seasonal sports.  Perform snow removal and sanding, landscape trimming and mulching, and use of irrigation system.  Must be able to work alone.  Typical "other" duties include but are not limited to:  Assisting in preparations for special events.  Assisting in traffic and parking control.  Periodically perform maintenance on-call duty. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  Three-five years’ experience performing the duties listed above is required.  Three-five years’ experience in plant operations or general building trades with experience and skills in two or more of the following trades and crafts are required:  electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and HVAC.  Experience in a similar position is preferred.  Must be a self-starter and able to perform work at the semi-skilled level with some supervision background and must possess good communication and customer-service skills.  Must be knowledgeable of and follow safety rules, regulations and policies.  A high school diploma is required and a one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred.
